Scanning is not metered. Credits are only for AI.
Your plan sets your limits and unlocks capabilities. Scanning inside them is not metered, so no per-scan fee and no billed minutes. Credits are a separate wallet, and Valkyrie is the only thing that spends them.

Two things decide what Crossfyre costs you, and they are cleanly separate. Your plan is a flat subscription that sets your limits and unlocks capabilities, and scanning inside those limits is not metered. Your credits are a separate wallet, and the only thing they pay for is AI. If you have ever been surprised by a scanning bill, that is the part worth reading.
The plan is what you pay for
Your plan sets ceilings, how many nodes and proxies you can register, how many workspaces you get, how many workflows run at once, how much wordlist storage, and which capabilities are unlocked (routines, missions, adaptive rate limiting, priority execution). Free, Pro and Reaper differ on those numbers and features; organizations add seats, teams and shared workspaces. You upgrade when you hit a ceiling, not because a meter ran up.
Scanning is not metered
Scans run on your own machines, the ones you enrolled. We orchestrate them and we do not bill you per scan, per operation or per minute. There is no usage line for subdomain enumeration, content discovery or port scanning, because there is no meter attached to any of them.
One honest caveat, because "unlimited" is the word everyone reaches for here and it is not quite true. Free is capped at 100 workflows a month. Pro and Reaper are not capped on workflow count, and every plan has ceilings on machines, concurrency and workspaces. What none of the plans have is a meter that charges you by how much scanning you did.
You pay a flat plan for ceilings and capabilities. Hitting a ceiling is what makes you upgrade. Scanning a lot is not.
The whole billing model, in two sentences
Credits are a separate wallet, for AI
Credits do not pay for scanning. They pay for Valkyrie, the layer that reads your scan output and hands back ranked findings with a reason attached. Valkyrie is live and it is the one thing on the platform that draws credits. Triage is charged per finding analysed and the assistant is charged per answer, so a month where you barely use it costs you barely anything.
Your plan pre-loads a batch of credits each billing term (Free gets a small monthly grant; Pro and Reaper get progressively larger ones), and you can buy more any time, independent of the plan.
Grants refresh, top-ups never expire
The per-term grant is refreshed on each renewal: use it or lose it. Credits you buy as a top-up never expire and stack on top. So a heavy month can lean on a top-up, and anything you purchase carries forward indefinitely.
Personal accounts and prepaid orgs simply pause AI usage when the balance hits zero, rather than running up a charge, so there is never a surprise bill. Postpaid (Enterprise) orgs can accrue usage up to a set limit and are invoiced.
What about a crashed or cancelled scan?
Because scanning is not metered, a node dying mid-run, an operation timing out, or you cancelling halfway costs you nothing, there is no per-scan charge to refund in the first place. Crossfyre still runs crash-safe orchestration (work is redelivered to another node and resumes where it left off), but that is about reliability and clean results, not billing. The mechanics are in how scans survive a crashed node.
So: a flat plan buys your ceilings, scanning inside them is not metered, and credits are a separate wallet that only Valkyrie touches. The per-plan numbers are on the pricing page.
